From The Winemaker

This is the Catena Zapata family top wine. It is a "Bordeaux"
blend, consisting mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon. The history of
this wine dates back to 1990, when Dr. Nicolás Catena Zapata
decided to launch a high-end Cabernet Sauvignon that could
compete with the best Cabernet in the world. Nicolás Catena
Zapata had always been a great admirer and collector of the red
wines of Bordeaux and Napa Valley.

Growing Conditions

“La Pirámide”, Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo,
3,117’elevation.

Nose

Deep aromas of mature plum and
cherries.

Palate

Strong spice and voluptuous character
enhanced by elegant, toasted French oak. Ends with
a long, silky finish.

Appearance

Intense red color.

Aging

24 months in French oak, 60% new.

Harvest

A small cool vintage, late by 2 weeks. Yields were down on average 30% due to Zonda winds during set. Severe frost in Altamira in La Consulta which partly affected the Nicasia vineyard. Rich wines with firm tannins – very age-worthy.
