From The Winemaker

This is the Catena Zapata family top wine. It is a "Bordeaux"
blend, consisting mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon. The history of
this wine dates back to 1990, when Dr. Nicolás Catena Zapata
decided to launch a high-end Cabernet Sauvignon that could
compete with the best Cabernet in the world. Nicolás Catena
Zapata had always been a great admirer and collector of the red
wines of Bordeaux and Napa Valley.

Growing Conditions

“La Pirámide”, Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo,
3,117’elevation.

Nose

Aromas of ripe
fruit, along with delicate spicy notes.

Palate

On the palate,
it is an elegant, balanced wine that shows
extraordinary freshness and complexity. Finishes
long and lingering, with soft, velvety tannins.

Appearance

Intense red color with garnet hues.

Aging

24 months in French oak, 60% new.

Harvest

A cool vintage, late by 2-3 weeks. Dry. Severe frosts in both Lujan de Cuyo and the Southern Uco Valley. The frost affected the Angelica Sur Vineyard in Eugenio Bustos with a loss of 75% of the harvest in this vineyard. Overall yields were moderate, except in frost-affected areas. Extremely well balanced and concentrated wines with optimal acidity.
